Por fim, ele pensou: ‘Eu não temo a Deus e não respeito homem algum. 5Mas essa viúva já me está aborrecendo. Primeira Leitura: 2 João 4-9

Leitura da segunda carta de São João – 4Muito me alegrei, senhora, por ter encontrado alguns dos teus filhos que caminham conforme a verdade, segundo o mandamento que recebemos do Pai. 5E agora, senhora, eu te peço – não que te esteja escrevendo a respeito de um novo mandamento, pois trata-se daquele que temos desde o princípio -, amemo-nos uns aos outros. 6E amar consiste no seguinte: em viver conforme os seus mandamentos. Esse é o mandamento que ouvistes desde o início para guiar o vosso proceder. 7Acontece que se espalharam pelo mundo muitos sedutores, que não confessam a Jesus Cristo encarnado. Primeira Leitura: Filêmon 1,7-20

Leitura da carta de São Paulo a Filêmon – Caríssimo, 7grande alegria e consolo tive por causa de tua caridade. Os corações dos santos foram reanimados por ti, irmão. 8Por esse motivo, se bem que tenha plena autoridade em Cristo para prescrever-te tua obrigação, 9prefiro fazer apenas um apelo à tua caridade. Eu, Paulo, velho como estou e agora também prisioneiro de Cristo Jesus, 10faço-te um pedido em favor do meu filho que fiz nascer para Cristo na prisão, Onésimo. 11Antes, ele era inútil para ti; agora, ele é valioso para ti e para mim. 12Eu o estou mandando de volta para ti. Leitura da profecia de Ezequiel – Naqueles dias, 1o homem fez-me voltar até a entrada do templo, e eis que saía água da sua parte subterrânea na direção leste, porque o templo estava voltado para o oriente; a água corria do lado direito do templo, a sul do altar. 2Ele fez-me sair pela porta que dá para o norte e fez-me dar uma volta por fora até a porta que dá para o leste, onde eu vi a água jorrando do lado direito. 8Então ele me disse: “Estas águas correm para a região oriental, descem para o vale do Jordão, desembocam nas águas salgadas do mar, e elas se tornarão saudáveis. 9Aonde o rio chegar, todos os animais que ali se movem poderão viver. Haverá peixes em quantidade, pois ali desembocam as águas que trazem saúde; e haverá vida aonde chegar o rio. 12Nas margens junto ao rio, de ambos os lados, crescerá toda espécie de árvores frutíferas; suas folhas não murcharão, e seus frutos jamais se acabarão: cada mês darão novos frutos, pois as águas que banham as árvores saem do santuário.
